St. Kizito being baptised by St. Charles Lwanga at Munyonyo |

But I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
Neither do we need to be alone ever again. We need not be scattered. When Jesus ascended he promised to be with us always. Just as the Father is always with Jesus even in the darkest hour so too "he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world" (see First John 4:4).
This is because we were baptized in the name of the Lord and had hands laid upon us by a priest or bishop. The Holy Spirit came upon us and filled us with his presence, power, and gifts.
Jesus did not say that after we received the Holy Spirit that our circumstances would change for the better. Sometimes they do. Prayer has power over circumstance. But sometimes trouble is part of the plan. Sometimes we are called to go through rather than around. But we need never be defeated or stopped in our tracks.
In the world you will have trouble,
but take courage, I have conquered the world.
Jesus overcame. Even when things seemed at their worst the Father was with him. In him we overcome and no circumstance need ever separate us from him.
And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death (see Revelation 12:11).
There is literally no circumstance that can thwart this victory if we do not let it.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (see Romans 8:37-39).
When do we act defeated in our lives? When do we act powerless? Let's find those specific places where we need more of the Holy Spirit and invite him to manifest his power within us.
God gives a home to the forsaken;
he leads forth prisoners to prosperity.
