Now that our enemies have been crushed,
let us go up to purify the sanctuary and rededicate it.
Let's rededicate ourselves to the LORD today. The temples of our hearts are all meant to be houses of prayer. Yet we all let them become filled with buying and selling from time to time. Jesus wants to enter into us and bring us back to our original purpose. He speaks to us and his word his the power to change us.
because all the people were hanging on his words.
Jesus will help us to change our priorities from buying and selling to the faithfulness and worship. We can do this in small ways as well as large. When we fail to be attentive in prayer we don't need to despair. We can rather rededicate ourselves to the service of God. We can join the songs, harps, flutes, and cymbals or the angels and saints in heaven worshiping God and giving him thanks.
The buying and selling that fills our souls doesn't even give us pleasure. Only in listening to the word of Jesus is true joy to be found.
Then Judas and his brothers and the entire congregation of Israel
decreed that the days of the dedication of the altar
should be observed with joy and gladness
on the anniversary every year for eight days,
from the twenty-fifth day of the month Chislev.
Let us turn back to Jesus each time we find ourselves distracted. Let us rededicate ourselves to him each time we wander. Let us hear him speak and join in praising him.
