11 November 2017 - to God only wise

Let us be trustworthy in small things. Let us be faithful so as to put any time, talent, and treasure to use for the kingdom. Let us remember that the things of earth eventually fail but the things of heaven are eternal. The risk is that the gifts we are given can come to rule us. Any gift we have can become our master if we do not put it into the service of the kingdom.

No servant can serve two masters.
He will either hate one and love the other,
or be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.

We see that even Paul's relationships are all oriented toward the kingdom. His greetings to individuals in Rome all take into account the Church. His wishes for them cannot be separated from his proclamation of the gospel.

Now to him who can strengthen you,
according to my Gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ,
according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret for long ages
but now manifested through the prophetic writings and,
according to the command of the eternal God,
made known to all nations to bring about the obedience of faith,
to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ
be glory forever and ever. Amen.

May we too become so unified of purpose as to live entirely and without division for the sake of the kingdom.

Every day will I bless you,
and I will praise your name forever and ever.
Great is the LORD and highly to be praised;
his greatness is unsearchable.
